1) The Jackson 5 vs. Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There"
2) The Carpenters vs. Luther Vandross vs: "Superstar"; "Superstar/Until You Come Back to Me"
3) Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force vs. Allure: "All Cried Out"
This space will serve as my teaching and research blog. My tentative dissertation topic will be a Teacher-Research study on two TIER I (First-Year Writing) courses at Michigan State University. This blog will consist of reflections about the course and research conducted from Fall 2008 - Spring 2009. Students from my WRA 125: Writing the Ethnic and Racial Experience course will also blog about course readings and class discussions.

Never will forget I'll Be There. The Jackson 5 version stands out in my mind, barely remember Mariah's version.
My favorite has to be "I'll Be There" from the Jackson's on this one as well, but that is one of the Mariah songs that I do rate.
As for Allure, they sure did a phenomenal job as well. That was a great album.
I'd say the Jacksons beat out Mariah, but that's not her fault. She did a great job with her version. I miss poodle Mariah.
I was flowing with Lisa Lisa until I looked up at the video. I think I have to give Allure as my fave for that one.
Great picks. Gotta go with the jacksons as i'm not a big fan of mrs. cannon.
I think this is one of Mariah's better versions...this was back when I loved her...back before she became her boobs and stilettoes...
I did the Carpenters and Luther too...I mean, after Luther does your song, it no longer is yours, it belongs to him...
Jackson 5, hands down(but mariah did it justice)! Luther gave the song some soul and owned it (but I like the carpenters version also).
Lisa & Allure, eh, depends on my mood!
You covered the whole spectrum. Someone else covered the Carpenters vs Luther. Of course, I chose Luther, but the Carpenters is not that bad.
When I was little I use to love this Jackson 5 song, now it's just too cheezy. I will pass on both versions, but if I had to choose it would be the original.
I had the Lisa Lisa and cult Jam tape, so it wins for me. I wore that tape out.
